Quality Inspector Apprenticeship - Weekend Shift (Fri, Sat, Sun)

About the role

We are seeking candidates with an interest in working in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment producing military-grade electronics utilizing cutting-edge technology. The ideal candidate should have an interest in working within a quality organization as an inspector and be willing to join the seventh cohort of the BAE Systems Electronic Systems Sector New Hampshire Quality Inspection Apprenticeship Program.

This is a 2-year program that consists of 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and 288 hours of paid related instruction. Upon selection, all apprentices must successfully complete a 5-week paid training program scheduled during first shift at the BAE Systems facility in Merrimack, NH. The training schedule is 10 hours per day, Monday through Thursday, starting at 7:30 a.m. and concluding at 6 p.m. each day.

Following the 5-week training, apprentices will begin applying their new skills on their assigned shift within a BAE Systems production factory in southern New Hampshire. Note that shift differential pay does not apply during the first-shift training period but will apply for work on any shift other than first shift.

Throughout the 2-year program, apprentices will receive one-on-one mentorship from an experienced Quality Inspector and continue technical skills development through internal training. As defined milestones are achieved, apprentices will receive incremental salary increases on a scheduled basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Ability to sit at an inspection workbench and utilize a microscope for the majority of the work day
  • Computer competency and English literacy to follow instructions and safety guidelines
  • Ability to focus on tasking while paying attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a structured, diverse, and inclusive environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic math skills
  • Experience working in an environment where effective verbal and written communication skills were demonstrated
  • Technical ability
  • Inquisitive and curious mindset
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with electronics devices and their manufacturing processes

Pay

The starting hourly rate for this position is $24.50. Full-time salary range is $40,003 – $64,006. Individual salaries are determined by factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
