Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections, detailed inspections, and various tests to ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Maintain inspection reports and records of inspection data.
- Use precision measuring equipment and perform detailed dimensional inspections as required.
- Coordinate inspection activities with leads and employees in the area where work is being performed.
- Read and comprehend blueprints and understand test requirements, procedures, and sampling plans.
- Perform and assist in physical and metallurgical tests on in-process and final production parts.
- Verify calibration on all test equipment before use and report any safety violations or improper work.
- Manage and control gage rooms, including creating, maintaining, and issuing gages, monitoring environmental conditions, and scheduling calibrations.
- Support engineering projects by acting as a gage expert and resource.
- Implement waste elimination initiatives and suggest improvements to reduce waste.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum 3-5 years of metallurgical or physical laboratory experience.
- Understanding of test equipment and lab procedures.
- Completion of college level mathematics, metallographic, or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with mainframe systems, spreadsheets, word processing software, and database systems.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions and unit measurements.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in the use of calipers, micrometers, height gages, and other precision measuring tools.
- Experience with quality assurance and manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of geometric tolerances per ANSI Y145.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of ISO and other relevant quality standards.
