Quality Inspector - 1st Shift Manchester

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. Responsibilities

• Perform all required inspections on product to assure compliance to Howmet’s Quality System, Specifications, and Customer requirements for Industrial and Military/Aerospace products.
• Conduct critical non-routine visual, dimensional, mechanical, and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, and materials following general inspection guidelines.
• Inspect in-process production to confirm product meets applicable drawings and specifications.
• Inspect finished products by confirming product meets drawings and specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; document and communicate required corrections; ensure defective product is not delivered to the customer.
• Maintain inspection records and documentation in accordance with government, customer, and company standards.
• Inspect incoming materials by confirming product meets drawings and specifications; conduct visual and measurement tests; document and communicate rejections of unacceptable items.
• Assist Quality Assurance during internal audits and customer audits as needed.
• Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with procedures and safety regulations.
• Conduct First Article, In-Process, and Final inspections; generate accurate reports utilizing AS9102 FAIR format.
• Generate and maintain nonconformance reports and records.
• Participate in Corrective Action processes, including containment plans, root cause analysis, corrective countermeasures, and providing objective evidence for verification/closure.
• Accurately document the results of inspections and issue Certificates of Conformance.
• Maintain and archive controlled document files and records in a timely and accurate manner.
• Participate in internal and external audit activities as needed.
• Provide feedback on the quality aspects of parts and assemblies to QA and Production.
• Interact with Production for communicating inspection results.
• Review contracts, purchase orders, drawings, travelers, shop instructions, and other planning for quality requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; aerospace experience is a plus.
• Proficient using hand measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages, optical comparator, etc.).
• Proficient in applying the principles of GD&T for blueprint/model interpretation and acceptance activities.
• Ability to read engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with Quality Management System principles (ISO 9001:2008, AS 9100D, etc.).
• Ability to work well with others and maintain a professional environment.
