Quality Food Safety Team Leader

Job Summary

Hill s is a US #1 Veterinarian recommended pet food brand founded over 75 years ago. We are seeking a Food Safety Team Leader to join our team. This role will lead the Food Safety Team to ensure our company quality standards are met in areas such as Food Safety Compliance, Documentation / Communication, Training and Standardization, Continuous Improvement, Cleaning / Sanitation, and Pest Control.

Responsibilities

• Execute and document the Plant Food Safety Program, including CCP, HACCP, FDA, and Product Release requirements.
• Lead investigations of Food Safety, Environmental, and Micro non-conformance issues using the CAPA process.
• Manage microbial sampling plans and ensure compliance with Corporate Quality SOPs.
• Conduct internal GMP, quality standards, and system audits for the facility.
• Identify and initiate quality improvements, advise on process, product, quality systems, and working instructions.
• Measure and report plant Quality KPIs.
• Supervise compliance with Corporate & Plant quality SOPs and conduct internal auditing programs.
• Support execution and follow-up of regulatory, internal, and external audits (e.g., FDA, USDA, AIB, State, etc.).
• Provide Food Safety Training to the Plant Operations team based on compliance needs.
• Work with Plant Engineers to ensure proper Sanitary Equipment Food Design of new capital projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, Food Science, or related field, or a combination of education and experience.
• 3 years of manufacturing experience.
• 1+ years of food safety experience.
• Experience in Cleaning and Sanitation programs.
• Certification in PCQI, HACCP, or GMP.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• 3+ years of food safety experience.
• Intermediate application of SAP experience.
• Auditing and compliance experience.
