Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-site quality assurance and quality control activities for the Damper Business Unit ensuring they are incorporated throughout all systems and processes.
  • Develop effective countermeasures including process or product changes when necessary to ensure quality standards are upheld and customer requirements and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Lead the development and implementation of quality management systems to define areas of responsibility, operational policies and procedures, record keeping requirements, training requirements, process and product qualification, validation and monitoring.
  • Ensure policies and processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained to support manufacturing and ensure customer satisfaction and expectations, and the attainment of product requirements.
  • Set goals and lead meetings to establish, delineate, and review quality assurance program organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.
  • Oversee technical problems and procedures of departments and recommend solutions to problems or changes in procedures to enhance overall quality of processes and systems.
  • Lead continual improvement efforts while maintaining records for corrective and preventive action as it relates to manufacturing processes and customer complaint processes.
  • Lead the vision, strategy, and implementation for training programs for the business unit.
  • Design product audit programs to effectively monitor, evaluate, and report on product quality.
  • Work jointly with purchasing to establish expectations of supplier quality, evaluate suppliers, and issue and maintain reports on supplier performance.
  • Obtain, analyze, and respond to customer feedback regarding quality and technical issues. Work with engineering to integrate the voice of customer into new product designs and processes.
  • Lead internal and external process for quality audits. Ensure results are communicated to business unit leadership, and action plans are created based on results.
  • Ensure workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement quality assurance metrics, controls, and improvements.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers to ensure materials, components, and assemblies meet the design and quality requirements.
  • Provide mentoring, training, indirect supervision of other team members, or may have direct reports.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement divisional plans, objectives, and strategies for the quality management system.
  • Monitor and improve the quality of operational processes and outputs.
  • Interfaces with all other engineering functions within an organization and with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues.

  • Implement and monitor of process control such as Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Develop appropriate tests and inspections to ensure that process controls are effective.
  • Responsible for all external (customer or third party) quality management system audits.
  • Create, implement, and manage the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Develop corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
  • Recommend revision of specifications.
  • Develop and implement quality standards and control systems.
  • Work with customers to resolve any quality issues through the application of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Problem-Solving tools such as 5 Why, 8D, Cause and Effect / Ishikawa diagrams, etc., and implement effective countermeasures to prevent the issue from re-occurring.
  • Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Conduct and/or attend meetings to establish, delineate, and review quality assurance program organizational policies, coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives.

Requirements

  • 6-9 years of relevant work experience in quality assurance required.
  • 2 Year / Associate Degree or equivalent years of job experience required.
  • 4 Year / Bachelor Degree in engineering preferred.
  • Experience in aluminum fabrication or related manufacturing preferred.
  • ASQC Certified is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and experience with ISO 9001 certification preferred.
  • Lean or six sigma methodology preferred.

Qualifications

  • Up to 25% travel is required to support multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Competitive pay range for this position is $105,630 - $130,485.
