Job Overview
About the role
The Quality Engineer will provide Quality Assurance, Quality Systems and Supplier Quality support to the Aclara ANSI Meters business unit. The Quality Engineer will implement policies and procedures that enhance the awareness of quality, process controls and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
Responsibilities
- Implement policies and procedures that enhance the awareness of quality, process controls and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Collaborate with product development teams to integrate quality control into product designs and development processes.
- Manage the Customer Complaint and Corrective Action processes, working to improve overall effectiveness.
- Conduct 8D root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.
- Work in a growing database environment and optimize the performance of our existing Power BI product database systems.
- Analyze data from quality testing, production metrics and customer returns to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
- Work with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure optimal performance and output of meter calibration panels.
- Lead process improvement projects, alone or as part of a multifunctional team, to drive sustainable corrective actions and improve customer satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work closely with HUS and Aclara stakeholders such as Supplier Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Engineering to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect process performance.
- Assist QA Tech with production inspections and other duties as needed to ensure outgoing product quality.
- Assume additional duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or other Technical Discipline.
- Strong Quality related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze problems, interpret data, identify root causes and provide efficient solutions.
- Background in applicable quality and lean tools/techniques such as: FMEA, RCA, 8D, Poke Yoke, Kaizen.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
Preferred Experience
- Preferred experience in leading internal, customer and external audits.
- Certification is advantageous. ASQ certification is a benefit.
- Knowledge of and experience in the use of SAP and Microsoft Power BI is very desirable.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills.
- Able to manage priorities while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with the utility/metering industry is a plus.
