Quality Engineer II

About the role
This position is for a Production Quality Engineering role. The production quality engineer is the primary support engineer for production support, new product introduction, and value stream support. The production quality engineer is the focal quality representative within operations and value stream integrated product teams.
Responsibilities
- Analytical Problem Solving: Basic understanding of problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, root cause analysis, Apollo) and associated statistical tools.
- Supplier Quality: Understands basic aspects of managing and assuring supplier quality to achieve best-in-class supplier quality, delivery, and service.
- New Product Development and Launch: Knowledge of key phases and requirements of an effective new product development and launch system (e.g., APQP, Stride) and associated tools such as PFMEA, Control Plans, Characteristic Matrix, Gage Capability, Process Capability, Process Flow, Preventive Maintenance, Machine Runoff.
- Quality Management Systems: Basic understanding of standards, implementation, and certification processes for Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS/EN9100, ISO-9001) and customer-specific certification programs. Support audit preparation and corrective action.
- Continuous Improvement: Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques (e.g., Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Total Productive Maintenance, Mistake Proofing).
- Cost of Quality: Basic understanding of Cost of Quality, particularly Cost of Non-Conformance. Uses Cost of Quality reports to identify improvement opportunities and waste reduction.
- Solve problems of limited scope and complexity.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledgeable in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including requirements derived from AS9145 and/or AS13100.
- Knowledgeable in the 8D process and review of corrective action plans with the product quality team.
- Exposure to quality tools (RCCA, PPAP, MPR).

Pay
The salary range for this role is $68,900 – $131,100 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
