Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain testing equipment and instruments.
- Perform all scheduled daily product and material lab testing.
- Work with Test Engineer to correctly identify performance non-conformances and applicable root cause(s).
- Accurately complete all reports and able to effectively communicate findings.
- Support product validation, verification, and failure analysis activities.
- Assist engineers in developing new testing procedures and methods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, quality) to resolve issues.
- Calibrate lab instruments and verify accuracy of measurement equipment.
- Train others on test methods.
- Document test processes and maintain accurate records for audits and traceability.
- Able to read, interpret, and execute applicable ASTM standards, SOP’s and Work Instructions.
- Ensure compliance with American Plastics safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized lab environment.
- Additional responsibilities at management discretion.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred (ideally in a technical discipline), or an equivalent combination of technical education, certifications, and relevant industry experience.
- Prior testing experience in a laboratory environment or the ability to learn and operate all applicable lab test equipment.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Familiarity with measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).
- Proficient in MS Office Suites (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Self-motivated with strong task management and follow-through skills.
- Able to identify potential performance issues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting to 50 lbs. and up to 80 lbs. team lift.
- Demonstrates accountability and ownership for assigned responsibilities and outcomes.
- At least 18 years of age.
