Quality Engineer
About the role
Our Wabtec Young Touchstone team combines knowledge of our customers’ product platforms/processes with industry expertise to deliver unparalleled product solutions. You will interact daily with all support team functions to solve problems and partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide services and support to internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure materials, processes and products meet or exceed specifications.
- Support Quality Technicians, Receiving Inspectors and Quality Operators.
- Create periodic quality reports.
- Troubleshoot root causes of scrap and customer complaints.
- Investigate customer complaints in the field as required.
- Lead our Supplier Quality Process at the BU level.
- Investigate and solve supplier quality issues.
- Engage in Supplier Development and Continuous Improvement activities.
- Manage onboarding processes for new suppliers.
- Manage supplier SCARs and associated back charges.
- Afford corrective actions and support CAR process.
- Afford development and maintenance of process control plans.
- Support Customer PPAP process.
- Identify and apply SPC Techniques to manufacturing and quality processes (where appropriate).
- Support Process/Product Audit Compliance process.
- Identify and execute Continuous Improvement activities.
- Support Six Sigma activities.
- Document Control process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Self-starter who works well with others.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Oracle, Reliance.
- Understand/Demonstrate ability to utilize lean, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong Work Ethic and commitment to the business unit.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of products and procedures.
- Ability to adapt and flex in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, improve culture, and influence.

- Experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Wabtec products and procedures.
- Experience with quality control and assurance.
