Quality Engineer
About the role
The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant. Located in California’s Silicon Valley, this facility produces low-to-mid volume New Product Introduction (NPI) runs to full-scale volume. The Fremont facility offers everything from small piece parts to fully integrated and tested systems. Supporting diverse technology sectors including semiconductor, telecommunications, and medical equipment, the Fremont facility offers a wide array of services including sheet metal fabrication, welding, painting and clean room assembly.
Responsibilities
- Lead corrective action teams and utilize quality tools, including 8D, in response to quality issues, including customer concerns.
- Develop, analyze and verify effectiveness of process controls by teaming with engineering to review customer specifications and drawings. Review and update Quality control plans and quality checklists.
- Design, document and implement methods and procedures for inspection and test
- Improving plant quality performance, and customer satisfaction through process improvement techniques such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Lean manufacturing etc.
- Develop and maintain quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products
- Support nonconformance documentation and MRB disposition process, including analysis of customer complaints
- Interface with customers on critical issues as needed.
- Cover conduct and report on internal audits
- Participate in engineering CCB’s and assist in the development and refinement of PFMEAs.
- Provide training and mentoring to team members in the development of quality improvement skills and the application of various quality tools.
Qualifications
- BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or similar field
- Requires 2-4 years of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with reading and interpreting GD&T requirements required
- Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with quality tools including process flowcharts, FMEA’s, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D required
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment required. AS9100 a plus.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies including statistical analysis techniques (Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control (SPC), etc) preferred
- Experience with machining and system integration/assembly preferred
- Experience with CMMs and laser inspection systems preferred
- Certified Green or Black belt a plus
- Internal audit experience a plus
- Experience using Microsoft Office product suite required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Pay
Salary Range (annual): $65,000 - $95,000. Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
