About the role
Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is seeking a Quality Engineer (SQE) to provide technical and strategic support to all programs at RVS supporting our factory located in Goleta, CA. This is an onsite position in Goleta, CA.
Responsibilities
- Implement Quality Engineering responsibilities as a member of the Mission Assurance Integrated Product Team (MAIPT).
- Work independently and be able to travel domestically up to 15% of the time.
- Be the point of contact (POC) for Mission Assurance responsible for ensuring our suppliers fully understand the technical and quality requirements.
- Lead corrective action request (CAR) and continuous improvement activities with an emphasis on 8D, Six Sigma, Lean practices and other critical thinking improvement methods and resources.
- Ensure Quality Engineering engagement in program development, design, test requirements and verification, including the transition of design to production.
- Support relationships with key suppliers to make sure that compliant materials are delivered to RVS according to schedule.
- Support incoming inspection teams and provide technical guidance to suppliers to drive continuous improvement in RVS supply chain capabilities.
- Collaborate with RVS engineering and manufacturing to acquire in-depth understanding of the technical and quality requirements of our products/components.
- Maintain positive relationships with program administration, cross-functional program stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and government representatives.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years related professional engineering experience.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems AS9100 or ISO9001.
- Experience with Root Cause & Corrective Action methodology (RCCA, 8D, 5WHYs).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience using Six-Sigma tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PARETO chart).
- Experience with statistical and metrics software (e.g., Minitab).
- AS9102 First Article experience.
- Infrared industry, semiconductor processing or DoD industry experience.
- Strong technical background combined with solid engineering and high-tech manufacturing experience.
- Experience executing and supporting PPAP, SCAR and Continuous Improvement projects.
- Demonstrated experience with Statistical Process Controls (SPC) & Rolled Throughput Process data capture.
- Experience reading and understanding mechanical, material & electrical drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with inspection and quality disposition of electronics, materials (ceramics & substrates) & mechanical components.
- Experience collaborating with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
