About the role
This role guides the design for quality, manufacturability and producibility during product development. It transitions products to manufacturing, implements quality plans, and leads continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Prevent defects through process, supplier, manufacturing, and quality controls
- Develop and implement product quality plans, PFMEA, control plans
- Ensure product compliance through functional tests and inspections
- Qualify new suppliers and internal processes
- Understand and control sources of variation in supply chain, manufacturing & test processes
- Lead a robust root-cause and corrective action process, working with engineering, suppliers and customers
- Drive efficient processing of customer RMAs, effective failure analysis, and responsive communication to customers
- Facilitate continuous improvement of product and process
- Monitor, measure and communicate metrics on a regular basis
- Prepare and deliver quality reviews with management, peer groups and customers
- Review customer score cards and align improvement initiatives to customer satisfaction; drive 8D corrective action
- Promote adherence to the Quality Management System (AS9100) and drive improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Minimum of 4-6 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering, operations project management, or quality position for complex electromechanical assemblies and systems
- Experience working in an environment with a Quality Management System (AS9100, ISO9001, ISO13485, or similar)
- Experience leading a robust root-cause and corrective action process, working with engineering, suppliers and customers
- Supporting the design and development of products, acting as a quality lead within the development team
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD
- Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports
- Supporting (design/development, production, field support/RMA) multiple products and projects
- Experience with relevant manufacturing processes such as soldering, machining, brazing/welding, painting and plating
- Experience with systems such as Product Lifecycle Management software (Agile or similar), ERP system (Oracle or similar), Manufacturing Execution System (Factory Logix or similar), and issue and project tracking software (Jira, Confluence, or similar)
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Teams)
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of GD&T requirements
