About the role
Gardner Denver, a division of Ingersoll Rand, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team at our Sedalia, MO facility. The role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and document process improvements to ensure quality and reliability.
- Quality project lead representative for new product introductions.
- Identifies production concerns and takes proactive steps to correct problems.
- Initiates and maintains documentation as needed to support process and manufacturing improvements (e.g., Process Control, Inspection logs, Visual Work Instructions, ECN's).
- Develops and maintains all departmental procedures supporting and maintaining ISO certification.
- Participates in internal and external periodic plant audits.
- Supports plant internal corrective actions.
- Responds and investigates quality related issues found on the production floor, or at the customer's location.
- Communicates with suppliers on non-conforming material, and issues/manage supplier corrective actions as necessary.
- Other responsibilities as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant quality experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- 3+ years of relevant quality experience within a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years experience with MS Office Suite, to include intermediate Excel skills.
- 1+ year of experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar platforms.

- Quality Systems & Compliance - Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and support quality procedures, documentation, and plant-level quality systems in alignment with ISO certification, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
- Structured Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis - Ability to respond to quality issues as they occur, investigate non-conformances, apply root cause analysis tools, and drive corrective and preventive actions that improve product reliability and reduce defects.
- Process Improvement & Manufacturing Support - Experience identifying production concerns, developing and documenting process improvements, and partnering with manufacturing teams to strengthen quality, reliability, and operational performance.
- Cross-Functional & Supplier Collaboration - Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, customer service, warranty, purchasing, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns, manage supplier corrective actions, and ensure customer quality requirements are met.
- Documentation, Data & Systems Proficiency - Strong ability to create, maintain, and manage quality-related documentation, including process controls, inspection logs, visual work instructions, ECNs, and corrective action records, while utilizing MS Office, Excel, and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar platforms.
Preferences
- Bachelor's Degree or some college with relevant quality engineering experience.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- ASQ certification (e.g., CQT, CQE, CQM, or CRE).
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
