About the role
The Quality Engineer will perform Quality system operation and inspections of power transformers to ensure products and services meet industry standards, customer, and company specifications while maintaining the highest quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct internal audit, inspection/test, and supplier audit processes according to the QA program.
- If necessary, issue NCR/CAR on non-conformities.
- Support ongoing process improvement activities.
- Assess quality trends, employ root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve the QA program and final product.
- Ensure proper collection, review, archiving, and submission of assembly and inspection/test data to customers as required.
- Plan and administer environmental, operational, or performance inspections/tests on products and systems.
- Cookordinate and direct engineering activities concerning the development, procurement, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required for inspection/test.
- Review customer specifications and implement inspection/testing to meet customers' requirements using applicable quality assurance and manufacturing department procedures.
- Analyze and interpret drawings, manuals, or other information to determine specifications, inspection procedures, testing requirements, and certification methods.
- Confer with engineering and technical personnel to resolve manufacturing and testing problems, including product or system malfunctions, manufacturing defects, supplier-related nonconformances, and incomplete test data.
- Provide leadership, direction, and technical support to quality inspectors to operate labs for calibration, chemical analysis, and inspection/testing, and support the Quality Manager as needed.
- Promote a culture of process control and quality excellence by providing effective leadership for problem-solving, failure investigations, and implementing appropriate countermeasures.
- Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
- Lead and provide guidance to the organization in the implementation and maintenance of compliance to the ISO 9001 program.
- Know Hyosung Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and be able to fully discuss their importance in the workplace.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree with at least 3 years of experience in quality assurance or equivalent education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Department procedures.
- Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to communicate with employees, customers, and vendors.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Broad knowledge of and experience in using inspection tools, instruments, and equipment.
- Developed computer skills for entering and retrieving data.
- Broad knowledge of ISO 9001 standard and quality requirements.
Physical/Mental Characteristics of the Position and Workplace Environment
- Able to use office equipment and tools, such as: PC, photocopier, fax machine, test equipment, quality instruments, digital camera, etc.
- Able to communicate with others to complete work assignments.
- Able to analyze data and develop accompanying reports.
