About the role
The Quality Engineer supports the maintained compliance within their STC to ISO9001:2015, ISO14001, ISO45001 (or local equivalent) and Vacuum Technique Quality standards at all times. The emphasis is on reliability, repeatability and safety, enabling proactive continuous improvement and optimisation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Supports the reduction in defective parts, process errors/inefficiencies and warranty costs.
- Serves as a liaison between the service technology centre and all levels within the STC operational environment.
- Ensures transparency for Quality-related issues that have both global and local impacts.
- Communicates SIB (Service Information Bulletin), SOP (Standard Operating Procedures), GSG (Global Service Group), ST (Service Test) updates located within the SharePoint, service SBU.
- Supports training rollouts of global quality standard processes, document improvements within the service technology centre, and adheres to timelines if necessary.
- Supports coordination and reporting of FRACAS (Failure Reporting Analysis Corrective Action System).
- Assists in Quality Assurance, test, failure analysis (FTTPR), customer feedback non-conformances through Root Cause Analysis.
- Ensures that all non-conformances are effectively closed, with 100% mitigation or stabilization.
- Supports the Service Technology Centre PFMEA activity that identifies and mitigates all identified potential risks using appropriate quality tools.
- Supports all continuous improvement activities by participating in reviews and observations in internal and external customer audits as required.
- Supports the calibration process.
- Justifies the service technology centre warranty by providing evidence.
Requirements
- A degree/HND level qualification (or local equivalent) in an Engineering/Quality discipline.
- Proven experience in understanding engineering documents such as drawings.
- Proven experience of instilling best practices within a manufacturing operational environment.
- Understanding or experience of an analytical approach (continuous improvement, control and monitoring) using qualitative and quantitative Quality management tools and techniques.
- Experience/knowledge of validation and verification.
- Experience/knowledge of calibration.
- Knowledge of Quality Function Deployment – the voice of the customer.
- Proven experience of change management or understanding.
- Teamwork, active listening, communication, collaboration, and empathy.
- Experience and knowledge of Manufacturing operations and processes (mechanical or electrical).
- Knowledge and/or experience of Lean.
- Proficient in the use of mechanical measurement tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Power BI, Minitab, JMP desirable.
- Proficient in English – written and speaking.
Qualifications
