Quality Engineer
About the role
Examine material or product for surface defects, verify specified dimensions, reject defective parts, and mark defects. Interpret engineering drawings and confer with management or engineering staff on quality and reliability standards. Select products for various tests, perform mechanical and analytical testing, operate diagnostic equipment, and perform related duties.
Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings and confer with management or engineering staff on quality and reliability standards
- Select products for tests at specified stages in production process
- Perform mechanical and analytical testing
- Operate diagnostic equipment needed to perform job
- Perform calibrations on gauges and measuring devices (including environmental)
- Receive inspections and testing
- Perform mechanical inspections using optical comparator, coordinate measuring machine, and various gaging techniques
- Maintain and update Document Control System (if assigned)
- Perform statistical techniques such as Line, SPC, and Capability Studies
- Communicate information from customer scorecards to team, suppliers, and audit suppliers to standards
- Complete supplier scorecards
- Support the Quality Management system using tools like problem solving, product launches, and continuous improvement activities
- Perform PPAP and PFMEA
- Direct day-to-day activities of Quality Inspector/Technician direct reports and handle supervisory responsibilities including timecards and disciplinary actions
- May serve as deputy for Quality Manager for all Quality-related responsibilities
Qualifications
- Familiarity with ASTM Standards
- Knowledge of Statistical Techniques (Line, SPC, Capability Studies)
- Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
- Ability to perform PPAP and PFMEA
- Working knowledge of Core Tools supporting Quality Management system
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
- Intermediate level experience in Quality engineering, IATF, Root Cause Analysis, Automotive Industry, Plastic, Rubber

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Russell Springs, KY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $43.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
