Quality Engineer - Aerospace Parts Manufacturing

About the role

The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving quality forward by effective communication both internally and externally.

Responsibilities

• Maintain configuration control documentation through contract review and blueprint/specification control.
• Work independently while effectively collaborating across Engineering, Operations, and Quality.
• Manage multiple customer accounts including OEMs and sub-tiers; serve as a backup Quality Engineer for additional customers.
• Work with Engineering to submit waivers and concessions as required/requested.
• Review and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Participate in investigation and disposition of customer complaints and returns, actively supporting root cause analysis and development of practical solutions.
• Communicate and submit Corrective Actions as needed to customers and internally.
• Review purchase orders received and issued for customer-related items.
• Serve as the internal quality representative for internal and external customers, building strong working relationships across functions, including production personnel.
• Achieve certification for customer source inspection as necessary, including completing training and certification.
• Work toward various continual improvement projects, proactively identifying opportunities and supporting implementation of solutions (may involve training/coaching).
• Trained as an Internal Auditor; participate in internal audits, external audits, special process audits, and customer audits.
• Serve as a subject matter expert with customer-specific requirements.
• Perform various other assigned duties.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer or comparable quality discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but may be offset with applicable experience.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basics of using networks and network folders.
• Able to upload and download information from various customer websites.
• Effective communication skills via direct interactions (in person, conference calls, group meetings) and indirectly (e.g., email).
• Ability to write clear instructions for others to follow successfully.
• Well-organized, able to multi-task effectively, and use resources to accomplish tasks.
• Ability and willingness to work in a high-paced, team-oriented environment with a hands-on, collaborative approach.
• Positive attitude and willingness to get the job done.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and detailed customer specifications/requirements.
• Work independently and be self-directed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ISO9001 and/or AS9100.
• Experience in the castings industry.
