This role supports the space program located in Houston, Texas, serving as the quality gate for flight hardware by inspecting incoming materials and parts before they enter production.
Responsibilities
- Perform receiving inspection of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.
- Develop and maintain inspection reports; collate test data and draft quality reports.
- Inspect products according to quality and safety standards across all stages of production.
- Report quality anomalies and urgently communicate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
- Identify and implement improvements to quality control processes.
- Communicate progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas and comply with safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent, plus 3+ years of recent and related work experience. In lieu of degree: 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Experience with flight hardware traceability, parts/materials/process control, or mission-critical hardware inspection.
- Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9001 requirements and inspection buy-off documentation practices.
- Advanced experience with quality inspection tools and mechanical assembly.
- Experience supporting root cause analysis or nonconformance documentation (CAPA, MRB).
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS).
- Strong work ethic, team-oriented, and culture-focused.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.
- Ability to follow company programs, processes, procedures, and requirements.
- Organized with good time management skills; able to work outside normal schedule and adjust to peak periods.
Desired Skills
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience.
- Familiarity with NASA quality assurance requirements (NPR 8735.2, NASA-STD-8709.22, or NASA-STD-8739 series workmanship standards).
- Familiarity with GIDEP (Government-Industry Data Exchange Program) alert screening and reporting.
- Familiarity with inspection stamp authorization.
Work Environment
- Generally an office environment, but may involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
- Position is located onsite in Houston, Texas; some travel may be required.
