Quality Control Technician - Metrology

This position supports the space program located in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar) for dimensional and first-article inspections.
  • Perform dimensional verification of incoming materials, purchased parts, and subcontracted products against drawings, specifications, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators) and laser tracking/scanning equipment to verify conformance.
  • Maintain tool control and calibration records; ensure equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
  • Develop and maintain inspection reports; collate test data and draft quality reports.
  • Report quality anomalies to the Quality Supervisor/Engineer and urgently communicate quality, safety, or compliance concerns.
  • Identify and implement improvements to quality control processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer-related information.
  • Associate degree or equivalent; in lieu of degree, 7+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered (position requires minimum 5+ years of recent and related work experience).
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience.
  • Experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) equipment.
  • Experience with laser tracking/scanning equipment.
  • Experience supporting mechanical assembly verifications.
  • Advanced experience with quality inspection tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS).
  • Strong work ethic, team player, and culture-oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers.
  • Organized with good time management skills; able to work outside normal schedule and adjust to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

This position is located onsite in Houston, Texas; some travel may be required. Schedules are subject to change based on position and customer needs.
