About the role
Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, teas, and energy drinks. The division leads the industry with innovative technologies that redefine beverage cans, offering a large printable surface area, varied sizes, shapes, and decorating options. This role is based at 1035 E. North St., Bradley, IL.
The Quality Control Technician works closely with supervision to ensure optimum levels in quality inspections, testing, package identification, and final packaging.
Responsibilities
- Understand and follow verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks with a focus on safety and spoilage.
- Ensure quality product production through inspections and testing of aluminum beverage cans.
- Identify quality problems and determine appropriate disposition.
- Communicate pertinent information between management, co-workers, and shifts regarding equipment changes, production issues, or other relevant details.
- Assist in training and coaching new technicians as needed.
- Apply learned skills and methods to improve plant production.
- Follow JHA’s, SOP’s, rules, 6S housekeeping, maintain gauging equipment, and modify production standards for optimal efficiency.
- Enter information into a computer to document data and perform accurate, continuous quality checks and record-keeping.
- Complete and administer necessary documentation, such as monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting, and data process control input.
- Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
- High school education or GED.
- 2-3 years of experience with computer skills in inspecting, testing, packaging, and high-speed manufacturing environments.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- Preferred but not mandatory:
- Knowledge of OSHA-related training in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the beverage packaging quality industry.
- Knowledge of AS400, QAS, and NWA.
- 6S training.
- Problem-solving skills through individual or collaborative approaches.
- Ability to work independently or with a team and think creatively for new solutions.
- Effective leadership skills, including conflict resolution, communication, and decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate or team with others.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may need to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May be required to climb stairs to upper levels occasionally.
- May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
- Works in a manufacturing, office, packaging, and warehouse environment.
- Exposure to light lifting and warehouse forklift traffic.
- Production noise level is frequently loud.

Pay
Pay rate: $27.96 - $28.57 per hour, based on skill and experience level.
