Quality Control Technician - 2nd Shift
About the role
The Quality Control Technician position is available for 2nd shift work. Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products, headquartered in Cary, NC.
Responsibilities
- Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Identify defects, measure dimensions, and ensure products meet established requirements.
- Accurately document inspection findings and maintain detailed records using logs, reports, and quality software systems.
- Perform required quality audits of production activities to ensure adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
- Communicate quality concerns, defects, or deviations to supervisors, engineers, and production teams for prompt resolution.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process and product improvement.
- Assist with troubleshooting quality issues and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide first-level quality support to Production Associates on product specifications, quality standards, and inspection procedures.
- Train Production Associates on quality requirements, best practices, and defect prevention.
- Complete data entry for quality reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation.
- Absorb additional duties and assignments as directed by Quality Department leadership.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail: The ability to identify subtle defects and variations.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of the different stages of window manufacturing.
- Good communication skills: The ability to clearly document findings and communicate concerns to others.
- Basic computer skills: Proficiency in using software for documentation and data analysis.
- Ability to follow procedures: Adherence to safety protocols and quality control guidelines.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma: Methodologies are valuable for identifying and addressing quality issues.
- Knowledge of specific industry standards: Familiarity with standards related to window manufacturing.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move window units.
