About the role

The Quality Control Technician position is available for 2nd shift work. Cornerstone Building Brands is a leading manufacturer of exterior building products, headquartered in Cary, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
  • Identify defects, measure dimensions, and ensure products meet established requirements.
  • Accurately document inspection findings and maintain detailed records using logs, reports, and quality software systems.
  • Perform required quality audits of production activities to ensure adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
  • Communicate quality concerns, defects, or deviations to supervisors, engineers, and production teams for prompt resolution.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process and product improvement.
  • Assist with troubleshooting quality issues and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide first-level quality support to Production Associates on product specifications, quality standards, and inspection procedures.
  • Train Production Associates on quality requirements, best practices, and defect prevention.
  • Complete data entry for quality reports and ensure accuracy and timeliness of documentation.
  • Absorb additional duties and assignments as directed by Quality Department leadership.

Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail: The ability to identify subtle defects and variations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of the different stages of window manufacturing.
  • Good communication skills: The ability to clearly document findings and communicate concerns to others.
  • Basic computer skills: Proficiency in using software for documentation and data analysis.
  • Ability to follow procedures: Adherence to safety protocols and quality control guidelines.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma: Methodologies are valuable for identifying and addressing quality issues.
  • Knowledge of specific industry standards: Familiarity with standards related to window manufacturing.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and move window units.
