Quality Control (QC) Engineer - Inspector

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Quality Control (QC) Engineer / Inspector to be based in Aiken, SC on the Savannah River Site (SRS). SRMC, a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, manages the Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract, including the closure of waste tanks, operation of the Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations, and associated production and disposal facilities.

About the role

The Quality Control (QC) Engineer / Inspector provides quality control support to operations and project teams for construction or non-construction projects. Responsibilities include performing quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of operations, project, and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, witness, test, perform surveillance, and prepare documentation to verify construction activities comply with established criteria.
• Identify and document nonconformances.
• Support verification that resolutions align with approved dispositions.
• Coordinate with internal sources to resolve quality issues and provide status updates on inspection/test activities.
• Review supplier’s and subcontractor’s quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance.
• Initiate quality release documents indicating subcontractor fulfillment of contract quality documentation requirements.
• Perform visual inspections of received material and equipment to ensure freedom from damage and maintain traceability.
• Perform mathematical calculations or conversions to determine correct values for acceptance/rejection of items or activities.
• Conduct final walk-downs to verify work activity completion, inspection, and documentation.
• Attend status meetings to provide input from the quality control department.
• Monitor operations maintenance, subcontractors, and suppliers’ workmanship, installation of material, and equipment for quality control compliance.
• Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, inspection plans, and/or work packages.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (engineering or science) and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas; or
• Bachelor’s degree in a non-technical discipline and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas; or
• Associate's degree and practical experience in predictive maintenance or related areas; or
• High School Diploma/GED and practical work experience in predictive maintenance or related areas.
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree (preferred).
• Previous/current quality certifications.
• Certification with continuing training required for inspection and contract surveillance activities.
• Specialized training may be required to support certain technical areas.

Pay

Annual salary range: $69,100.00 – $124,400.00. Exceptions to this range may be applied on a case-by-case basis considering education, experience, and organizational needs.
