About the role
Samsung Austin Semiconductor is a world leader in advanced semiconductor technology. This role is within the Construction Quality Management System (CQMS).
Responsibilities
- Lead the full lifecycle ownership of construction quality processes and procedures.
- Drive continual improvement of the CQMS by analyzing field performance data, lessons learned, audit findings, and non-conformances to identify gaps; update and reissue procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and ensure scalability.
- Oversee contractor and subcontractor compliance: perform in-depth reviews of submittals, method statements, shop drawings, and field activities against the latest approved procedures; enforce adherence through structured oversight and corrective guidance.
- Conduct frequent, in-depth on-site quality audits, surveillances, and inspections of General Contractors and subcontractors, verifying adherence to updated procedures, best construction practices, and contamination control measures in a multicultural team setting.
- Manage the end-to-end quality issue lifecycle: identify/track non-conformances, facilitate rapid resolution, maintain a centralized NCR log, verify close-outs, and communicate status/trends to project leadership.
- Establish, track, and report quality performance metrics (KPIs) such as NCR rates, audit compliance scores, procedure adherence percentages, and rework trends; develop dashboards and analyses to demonstrate QMS effectiveness and support data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to integrate quality processes into construction sequencing, subcontractor pre-qualification, training programs, and phased handover protocols.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive, hands-on construction experience in quality assurance/control, field inspection, and construction management on large-scale industrial or mega-projects.
- A strong construction background in heavy industrial, high-tech, or regulated environments (e.g., semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, advanced manufacturing, data centers, or similar greenfield/new-build mega-projects, oil/gas) is highly preferred and prioritized.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 principles, risk-based quality approaches, and semiconductor/cleanroom construction best practices (e.g., clean build protocols, SEMI standards) is a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- A process-oriented mindset with exceptional ability to assess existing workflows, pinpoint inefficiencies/risks, and author clear, concise, actionable construction procedures and documentation that field teams can readily adopt.
- Leadership in procedure adoption: skilled at training teams, gaining contractor buy-in, and enforcing updated processes in fast-paced, multicultural settings.
- A construction-focused mindset: deep understanding of translating standards into actionable instructions for trades, with emphasis on clean build practices, quality checkpoints, and risk mitigation in greenfield execution.
- An aptitude for documentation and data analysis using MS Office programs, including Project, Excel, Word, and Power Point.
- The ability to thrive in a high-paced multi-cultural environment.
- Strong creative problem-solving skills, leadership potential, and a desire to contribute to leading-edge planning and optimize projects with aggressive goals and timelines.
