Quality Control Manager
Responsibilities
- Lead all quality control operations to ensure finished goods, components, and repaired merchandise consistently meet David Yurman quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain inspection standards, procedures, training materials, and quality tools across internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
- Lead, develop, and coach Quality Control Inspectors, Polishing personnel, Returns Inspection teams, and Quality Data Processor(s).
- Manage staffing, workload prioritization, and resource allocation to support business needs and service level commitments.
- Partner with manufacturing vendors and internal stakeholders to identify, communicate, and resolve quality concerns.
- Analyze supplier quality trends and oversee quality reporting, sampling plans, defect tracking, and vendor scorecard initiatives.
- Manage statistical audits and quality verification programs for components, finished goods, and inventory held within distribution and vault locations.
- Oversee assay testing, gemstone verification, and other product validation programs to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the QC Polishing Shop, ensuring work is prioritized appropriately while maintaining productivity and workmanship standards.
- Manage Returns Inspection operations to ensure accurate evaluation, disposition, and processing of returned merchandise.
- Leverage quality data and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards, KPIs, and quality performance summaries for leadership review.
- Drive process improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, reduce defects, improve throughput, and support scalability.
Qualifications
- Minimum seven years’ experience working in a quality position in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Four years’ experience building, training, and managing a team.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with global manufacturing base and various departments within the company.
- Organizational skills required.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Basic Computer skills
- Knowledge of jewelry construction, gemstones, diamonds, silver & gold required.
- Education: College Degree preferred, but not required with sufficient experience.
- GIA Certification Preferred, but not required
Pay
Estimated Base Salary: $85,000-$95,000. Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
