About the role

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Quality Control Manager to support Letterkenny Army Depot’s mission of repairing and modernizing U.S. weapons, air and missile defense systems, and supporting infrastructure. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of industrial, mission-critical environments. You will oversee all contract quality requirements, ensuring services and deliverables meet established standards through regular inspections, performance monitoring, and compliance verification. The position involves proactively identifying issues, facilitating corrective actions, and engaging with project leadership to maintain consistent, high-quality performance across the program.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Quality Assurance Department and associated functions.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and continually improves the Quality Assurance (QA) Program and Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • Establishes, implements, and continually improves a compliant QMS across all project departments, including evaluation, monitoring, auditing, and analysis to validate effective implementation.
  • Evaluates overall department performance based on ISO requirements, statutory and regulatory requirements, contractual (PWS) requirements, and QMS requirements.
  • Develops procedures, work instructions, and other documents to enhance functions and increase ISO compliance.
  • Develops and implements an internal audit program, evaluates audit findings, and coordinates corrective and preventive actions (CARs and PARs) with department managers.
  • Monitors and assists in resolving corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Performs independent analysis, determines scope and course of action, and develops plans to resolve problems, including root-cause analysis.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and initiates Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs) in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Conducts process and product measurements and analysis per ISO 9001.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5–10 years of quality assurance/quality control experience in a manufacturing, depot, or industrial production environment.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies; certification (LSSGB/LSSBB) preferred.
  • Proven experience with inspection processes, quality audits, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) development.
  • Familiarity with DoD depot operations, technical data packages (TDPs), and military quality standards (e.g., MIL-STD series) highly desirable.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Skilled in the use of quality measurement tools, gauges, and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Strong data analysis and reporting abilities, including trend identification and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills with the ability to train teams and interface with Government representatives.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Secret Clearance required.
