We provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) construction to institutional and government organizations. As a design-build contractor, we offer extensive BIM and LEED expertise, along with specialty experience on complex marine, pump station, and water and wastewater projects.

About the role

The Quality Control (QC) Manager will have full authority to act on all quality control matters. This role requires presence on the project during production to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. The QC Manager reports directly to the Senior Project Manager or a company officer not directly responsible for production. In the event of a nonconformance, the QC Manager has the authority to stop work until the issue is resolved according to the Quality Control Program.

The position requires strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, along with excellent communication and client service abilities. The QC Manager must be assigned no other duties besides quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain, and update data in the QCS database throughout the contract duration.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are certified on and off the jobsite.
  • Conduct Preparatory, Initial, and Follow-up meetings for each definable feature of work.
  • Supervise and coordinate all inspections (Follow-up, Punch-out, Pre-Final, and Final Inspections).
  • Schedule and coordinate independent testing laboratories for all required testing.
  • Maintain an up-to-date testing plan and revision log for the CQC plan.
  • Maintain an up-to-date submittal status log.
  • Hold weekly/bi-weekly CQC meetings and prepare minutes of the meetings.
  • Review submittal data and certify compliance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure all required personnel are on-site during installation and testing in their area of responsibility.
  • Direct other Quality Control staff, assigning responsibilities, duties, and authorities as required by contract.
  • Remove personnel from work if it does not conform to contract requirements.
  • Ensure the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors, including strict adherence to HPA safety policies and programs; authority to stop work for safety violations.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge of contract documentation (e.g., drawings, technical specifications, general conditions).
  • Assist with preconstruction efforts.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily construction reports.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants.
  • Attend project meetings, including progress, pre-construction, and pre-award meetings.
  • Review inspection and test data for compliance with specifications.
  • Set up QA-QC procedures and conduct quality inspections.
  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through actions and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in related construction work or a graduate engineer, architect, or graduate of a college-level construction management course with at least 3 years of construction experience on projects similar to this contract.
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management with a minimum of 3 years working in Pump Station Construction or Heavy Civil Construction Industry or minimum 5 years working in Pump Station Construction or Heavy Civil Construction Industry.
  • Must meet CQC training requirements.
  • Dependability and excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with grading, drainage, paving (asphalt and concrete), bridge construction, retaining walls, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and all other pump station construction scopes.
  • Strong prioritization, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Experience with E-Builder, eCMS, and/or RMS systems.
