About the role
Wonderful Citrus is North America’s leading integrated grower, shipper and packer of fresh citrus. The Lead will manage the daily activities of their area, including ownership of the results, coaching temporary employees, interfacing with other departments, and meeting production goals.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the startup activities of the area, including quality and food safety inspection of fruit scheduled and the production line
- Demonstrate proactive planning for the line and area for next day planning, safety, sanitation, maintenance, and team needs
- Communicate with other areas regarding scheduling and other production-related issues
- Monitor team member’s hours, breaks, lunch periods, and schedules as efficiently as possible to minimize production downtime
- Work with other leads to manage immediate tasks, outages, and special requests
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts at the facilities in Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Cost, and Productivity
- Support the Food Safety Program as needed
- Operate computer systems to track quality trends and production activity
- Daily auditing of the cleanliness and 5S organization of the area
- Teach and provide direction to employees to meet requirements
- Coordinate grade activities and people to assure Pre-grade fruit quality meets standards
- Interpret company policies and procedures to team members and work with team members to resolve job problems
- Ensure team members are trained in the safe and efficient operation of equipment in their area
- Coach and inspire each member of their area to achieve a higher level of performance
- Conduct safety incident investigations and complete necessary paperwork
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 to 2 years of a leadership role in a production environment preferred
- Precision and detail-oriented
- Speak, read, and write in the English language; bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in oral and written form
- Prior knowledge of fruit, fruit quality, and grade characteristics is a plus but not required
- Must work with fellow co-workers and promote a teamwork environment
- Good problem-solving skills and communication
- Advanced computer skills; experience required using Microsoft Windows (i.e., Excel and Word)
- Basic mathematical skills required; must understand ratios, minimums, and maximums, and percentages
- Ability to multi-task and be comfortable in a fast-paced work setting
- Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
