This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career. 3M is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician for the Materials Resource Division (MRD) located in Cordova, IL.

About the role

As a Quality Control Laboratory Technician, you will support product quality, product development, process scale-ups, or production processes by performing elementary tests, measurements, and tasks for experimentation and/or production. You will also assist in developing quality standards and test procedures to inspect materials, in-process, or final products to ensure 3M quality standards are met. This position is a 12-hour rotating shift at the Cordova plant.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of samples with minimal supervision and report results.
  • Support QC lab process improvement initiatives.
  • Support product validations and optimizations.
  • Utilize LIMS and other computer systems.
  • Document all test results.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs.
  • Maintain/improve testing cycle times for QC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • One (1) year of quality control technician experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Qualifications

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed further in this role include:

  • Associate’s/2-year technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a chemical operator, laboratory technician, or a combination of both.
  • Understanding of basic concepts of measurement systems, testing, and calibration.
  • Working knowledge of basic quality tools (checksheets, process flow diagrams, cause-and-effect, histograms, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, run charts) and general awareness of a consistent problem-solving methodology, such as the "7 Step Problem Solving Method".
  • Experience working with diverse teams including external partners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.

Pay

The expected compensation range for this position is $71,721 - $87,660, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors including relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
