Quality Control Lab Technician

About the role

A Quality Control Lab Technician performs chemical, physical, and microbiological analysis of beverage components and blends to ensure quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Verify that Quality equipment is functioning properly by performing and documenting maintenance, calibration, and verification to ensure accurate product testing results.
• Perform shelf-life extensions when needed.
• Verify effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation procedures by performing pre/post-operational inspections of production lines to ensure beverage contact equipment is sanitary.
• Perform environmental testing by collecting water samples and hygienic swabbing throughout the facility to ensure sanitation effectiveness.
• Fill out batch reports, calculate variations in batch sizes, proper attributes, standards, and other required data documented per formula.
• Maintain the Quality laboratory by cleaning, organizing, and performing supply inventory to meet housekeeping expectations.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative testing of beverages, syrups, and raw materials throughout the production process and analyze attributes.
• Perform filling line quality inspections, quality audits, and isolate non-conforming product.
• Assist in adjusting materials or production batches that deviate from the target state under supervision.
• Support investigations of customer complaint issues.
• Verify information on Production and QA Batch Tickets as needed.
• Send production samples to customers upon request.
• Send analysis requests and final product samples to external third-party laboratories.
• Assist in implementing and enforcing internal guidelines concerning hygiene, HACCP, food, and job safety.
• Coordinate with other departments for seamless product delivery to customers.
• Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and health-conscious work environment.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a science-related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a laboratory environment.
