Quality Control Inspector - Urgent Need (Req Exp in Incoming Inspection & Reading Drawing)

Location: Durham, NC • Duration: 12 months • Schedule: 1st shift, 40 hours/week • Pay rate: $20–25/hr

About the role

The Quality Inspector conducts inspections of products (parts, assemblies, raw materials, tooling, instruments, etc.) to validate compliance to design data requirements—including drawings, specifications, and contract requirements—at predetermined steps in the manufacturing process using basic inspection methods and tools.

Responsibilities

• Use a variety of measuring devices, testing equipment, and statistical control processes.
• Perform Initial Sample Inspections Records (ISIR)/First Article Inspections (FAI) and conformity inspections; raise notifications of non-conformance.
• Participate in continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
• Request engineering support to evaluate and act on inspections and tests beyond current capabilities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Work within a team environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Requirements

• Associate degree or more than 5 years of related experience and/or training; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of quality inspection or manufacturing experience in a relevant industry.
• Certification in a quality discipline (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Technician, ASQ Certified Quality Auditor) preferred.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and geometric tolerance interpretation.
• Experience with PCB/cabling, UL components compliance knowledge, and GD&T.
• Experience with CMM preferred.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and their application.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Work environment and physical demands

• Mostly controlled but potentially varying internal environmental conditions, including temperature changes and noise within acceptable safety levels common to a warehouse environment.
• Long-term standing, sitting, and frequent walking throughout warehouse, assembly, or machine-shop areas; navigating common hazards related to these areas.
• Must be able to carry, lift, and push/pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Must have the ability to see, smell, hear, talk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, sit, stand, and walk.
• Weekend and overtime work may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required as necessary.
