About the role
The Quality Control Inspector II is responsible for inspecting and evaluating fabricated steel products to ensure compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry codes. This position performs dimensional inspections, visual weld inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT) using ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT) while operating under the requirements of a fully certified Level II Inspector.
Responsibilities
- Performs dimensional inspections, visual weld inspections, and non-destructive testing (NDT) using ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and liquid penetrant testing (PT)
- Coordinates quality activities
- Maintains inspection records
- Communicates quality concerns
- Works closely with production leadership to ensure product quality, efficient workflow, and on-time delivery
- Exercises independent judgment regarding product acceptance and has the authority to stop production or reject nonconforming material when necessary to protect quality and customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Fully certified Level II Inspector
- Experience in quality control inspection of fabricated steel products
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards
- Ability to operate NDT equipment such as UT, MT, and PT
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree in a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control inspection of fabricated steel products
Skills
- Proficiency in NDT techniques (UT, MT, PT)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
