Quality Control Inspector
SUMMARY
The Quality Control Inspector assures products meet the company’s quality standards, while assisting operations in developing and enforcing good manufacturing processes and procedures. They inspect and test trucks from work in progress to the finished product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects in-process production of vacuum trucks by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Inspects finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Makes sure production areas are checked to ensure all manufactured products or parts meet the necessary production standards.
- Compares product with bill of materials and sales release to ensure completion of assembly.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process and tests for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
- Operates any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
- Aids test bay manager with the testing of trucks and serves as backup when test bay manager is on vacation.
- Aids production with diagnosing issues on trucks.
- Suggests design and location changes that improve function of the truck.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL
This position does not travel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience building custom trucks is preferred, but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
This position requires a valid driver's license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly stands, walks, crawls, stoops, reaches, feels with hands and arms.
- Uses hands to operate the telephone, the computer, and assemble information.
- Must be able to clearly communicate with others either verbally or via written communication.
- Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds; occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, consisting of normal vehicle shop equipment and activities.
- The employee works inside a building that is not climate controlled environment.
