Quality Control Inspector

About the role

Kelly Services is hiring Quality Control Inspectors for a manufacturing and fabrication environment in Hampton, VA. This role supports make-to-print manufacturing by inspecting raw materials, in-process work, machined/fabricated components, assemblies, and finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machined parts, fabricated components, assemblies, and finished products.
  • Verify parts meet drawings, specifications, customer requirements, contract flowdowns, and internal quality standards.
  • Perform receiving, first article, in-process, final, and dimensional inspections.
  • Use precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators, pin gauges, thread gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Document inspection results using reports, check sheets, quality records, and electronic systems.
  • Identify and document nonconforming product.
  • Communicate quality concerns with production, engineering, and quality teams.
  • Support corrective actions, root cause activity, and process improvements.
  • Maintain and properly handle calibrated inspection tools and gauges.

Requirements

  • QC Inspector, Quality Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Dimensional Inspector, CMM Inspector, or Metrology experience.
  • Experience inspecting finished machined parts and/or fabricated components.
  • Strong precision measurement tool experience.
  • Able to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
  • Machine shop, aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, fabrication, or contract manufacturing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and long-term job stability.

Qualifications

  • Huge Plus: Laser Tracker, Hexagon Arm, Romer/Faro Arm, Portable CMM, or Spatial Analyzer
  • CMM / PC-DMIS experience
  • First Article Inspection
  • AS9100 / ISO 9001
  • GD&T training
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector
  • AWS CWI, NDT, or coating inspection certifications
  • Aerospace, defense, or military specification experience

Skills

Strong precision measurement tool experience, ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T, machine shop, aerospace, defense, precision manufacturing, fabrication, or contract manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and long-term job stability.
