Quality Control Field Engineer with AIS Infrastructure

About the role
The Quality Control Field Engineer supports the organization and execution of AIS Infrastructure construction projects by reviewing project documents, coordinating tests and inspections, and ensuring compliance with quality control requirements. This role works closely with the Quality Control Manager and other team members to maintain high-quality deliverables, customer satisfaction, and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Quality Control Manager across all project phases.
- Review and/or produce design and construction documents.
- Implement QA/QC protocols through submittals, RFIs, inspections, and field testing.
- Enforce compliance with quality standards and oversee subcontractors.
- Maintain documentation, reports, and internal data management systems.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to resolve quality issues.
- Continuously improve quality management systems.
- Provide guidance on quality control practices and requirements to project teams.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Monitor internal production, analyze data, and prepare reports.
- Assist with project submittals, transmittals, and subcontract/purchase order preparation.
- Support the implementation of site safety programs.
- Maintain contract documents and electronic web-based records for field operations.
- Prepare Daily Construction Reports.
- Review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with contract tolerances.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in construction quality control, preferably in heavy civil construction.
- Familiarity with soil and/or concrete testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (highly preferred).
- Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations.
- Ability to assist with field and office engineering responsibilities.
- Initiative to improve processes and a strong understanding of field testing, inspection procedures, specifications, and structural/civil concepts.
- Experience with audits, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and engineering design software.
