About the Role

This is a 6-month contract position (W2) for a Quality Control Associate I at a medical devices company in San Diego, CA. The role is entry-level and requires US citizenship, a Green Card, or a valid work authorization (GC EAD, OPT, EAD, or CPT). The position is full-time (40 hours/week) on the 1st shift with a pay rate of $20–$25/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Train and become proficient in required techniques, equipment operation, and software for testing, data analysis, and reporting, including work with human blood, mammalian cell culture, and/or animal tissues.
  • Perform routine, accurate, and timely QC testing under supervision according to standard protocols and operating procedures.
  • Prioritize daily workload and develop skills to work independently.
  • Analyze data, report test results, and complete all required documentation and database entries.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment; report issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain logs, prepare lab supplies/reagents, and assist with laboratory maintenance.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment, including participation in Environmental, Health & Safety programs and addressing hazards.
  • Notify supervisors of unsafe conditions or practices and comply with safety requirements.
  • Participate in cross-training, group projects, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in a related scientific discipline or some college coursework with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a biotech lab environment.
  • Experience in an industrial or research laboratory preferred.
  • Flow Cytometry experience required; Tissue Culture experience highly preferred.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills (MS Excel & Word).
  • Knowledge of general laboratory safety.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to follow established policies/procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Pay

$20–$25/hour.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours/week), 1st shift.
