About the role
The Quality Control Associate evaluates and reports product conformance of supplier parts, components, and finished products relative to established quality standards to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the company’s policies, goals, and objectives. This position takes ownership in quality inspections and the company’s quality metrics.
Responsibilities
- Interpret drawings for needed inspection dimensions
- Perform First Article Inspections with little supervision
- Accurately and efficiently perform inspections on inbound supplies, product components, and hardware at receiving
- Perform final inspections of completed products at production
- Inspect in-process products for conformance to product specifications, manufacturing, and quality standards
- Perform routine and ad-hoc inspections in all manufacturing areas
- Inspect supplier material to ensure conformance to specifications
- Collect inspection data for files and reports
- Ensure calibration of measurement equipment is current
- Input data onto Quality Alert or other forms for identified non-conformances
- Identify and document nonconforming material appropriately
- Notify Team Lead or Supervisor of any problems with procedures or equipment
- Maintain personal safety and keep work areas neat and orderly
- Maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, providing guidance and training as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts for safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction through cross-functional communication
- Support the company’s mission and vision with a focus on compliance to systems, policies, and procedures, and a continuous quality and process improvement mindset
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred
- 1-2 years of operational experience, preferably within an ISO manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with basic office computer software and Microsoft 365 programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic handheld measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, Pi tapes, angle gages, height gages, etc.)
- Basic math and calculation abilities; high attention to detail
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of work in an industrial warehouse environment, including production lines, uneven walk areas, and motorized industrial equipment
- May be required to utilize ladders or work from heights on occasion
- May need to use personal protective equipment (glasses, hearing protection, respirator)
- Must be able to stand for long periods, climb, stoop, bend, and conduct work at waist level
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs at times and 20 lbs regularly
- Normal auditory, visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, ambulation, and dexterity
