Quality Control Associate
Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking Quality Control Associates for a 3-month contract opportunity with a biotechnology company in Wilsonville, OR. Pay rate: $22 per hour. Workplace: Onsite.
About the role
Step into a pivotal quality role at the forefront of synthetic DNA manufacturing. As QC Associate II, you will drive both the implementation and strategic enhancement of quality control processes within a fast-paced, innovative production environment. Partnering directly with laboratory operations, you will apply advanced analytical techniques, including NGS, quantitative PCR, fragment analysis, and more, to safeguard the performance and reliability of high-value DNA products. This highly visible position demands an analytical thinker who brings a thorough, data-centric approach to each phase of quality control. Your work will ensure every production lot meets or exceeds stringent standards across regulatory, industry, and customer dimensions.
Responsibilities
- Independently oversee quality release of synthetic DNA product lines to guarantee full compliance with exacting customer requirements.
- Execute and optimize QC assays (NGS, qPCR, fragment analysis, NanoDrop/Qubit), quickly escalate off-spec data, and resolve assay challenges.
- Initiate and document nonconformances, drive containment actions, and contribute to corrective and preventive investigations, utilizing advanced root cause methodologies (DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.).
- Play a key role in data analysis and reporting by preparing comprehensive quality reports and trends, and authoring essential operational documentation (SOPs, test guides, labels).
- Rigorously maintain QC records and lab inventory per ISO and GDP standards; champion diligent calibration and documentation practices.
- Identify, propose, and implement continuous improvement projects that strengthen overall product and process quality.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
- 0-2 years’ industrial experience in QC or related operations, ideally in a high-throughput environment.
- Strong working knowledge of molecular biology assays (PCR, sequencing, cloning) and analytical methodologies (spectroscopy, gel electrophoresis).
- Familiarity with GMP/ISO compliance, LIMS platforms, and lab automation/robotic systems is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting ability and initiative in fast-moving settings.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and a track record of collaborative achievement.
