About the role
The Quality Control and Safety Manager provides direction, leadership, and guidance to ensure alignment with corporate/contract quality policies, strategic objectives and organizational goals that are accomplished safe, on-time and error-free. In addition, responsible for the Environmental and Safety operations of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provides direction, leadership, and guidance to ensure alignment with corporate/contract quality policies, strategic objectives and organizational goals that are accomplished safe, on-time and error-free.
- Provides effective Contract review for Quality specifications and adherence prior to new contract proposals and awards, then interacts closely with customers to proactively mitigate disruptions and maintain strong working relationships.
- Champions a sustainable and robust Quality Management System that strictly complies with ISO 9001 and PWS requirements.
- Serves as a liaison for executive management for potential changes and impact on the Quality Management System.
- Generates reports on the suitability of the Quality program, manages several important cross-functional processes including, Contract Reviews, Supplier Quality, In-Process Quality Assurance, and quality of workmanship.
- Responsible for identifying, analyzing, and developing improvements in productivity, quality, customer relationships, and customer service.
- Utilizes quality body of principles to champion best in class QMS Program across the organization to reduce lead times, increase quality, on-time delivery, and reduce cost.
- Communicates with various Government professionals in a manner that upholds high levels of expectations.
- Serves as primary point of contact for all quality related issues to include enforcement of Quality Control Plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and operations related to business/ contractual processes, integration, modification, maintenance, repair, and overhaul.
- Establish processes and procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
- Communicates a clear vision to ensure line of sight to functional goals for key functional participants.
- Implement and oversee workplace safety programs to minimize risk, prevent injuries, and maintain a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ensure compliance with contract and Department of State safety requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Prepare detailed reports and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation required for internal reviews and regulatory inspections.
- Conduct hazard assessments, job hazard analysis, and risk evaluations to proactively identify and mitigate safety concerns.
- Deliver and coordinate required quality and safety training, including site orientation, hazard communication, PPE usage, emergency response, injury reporting, and task-specific procedures.
- Ensure all personnel maintain required certifications, licenses, and medical clearances.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to waste handling, spill prevention, hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and other environmental health requirements.
- Make periodic safety inspections and prepare reports.
- Establish safety standard operating policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA regulations and standards.
- Maintains OSHA log and other required safety/accident record keeping requirements.
- Serves as central point of contact for all safety related matters.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, with 5+ years of experience in Quality Management and HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental)
- ASQ certification in Quality Management and/or Quality Engineering preferred
- Lever Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of safety management experience; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance and base access
- Experience with MAXIMO CMMS or similar systems strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and general industry safety programs required
- Experience conducting QA audits, safety inspections, and surveillances; ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions
- Strong problem-solving skills using quality assurance methodologies, tools, and best practices
- Ability to read, interpret, and discuss technical drawings, specifications, and applicable regulations in federal and civilian environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Windows)
- Strong customer service skills, including responsiveness, follow-up, and active listening
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated leadership through professionalism, accountability, and alignment with company values and operating principles
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Practical knowledge of workplace safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for efficient tracking and retrieval
- Perform work in a safe and secure manner
- Complete all required training within established timelines and demonstrate reliability and dependability
- Able to follow oral and written instructions and resolve issues with minimal operational impact
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, workshops, and professional development activities as required
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record in accordance with company policy
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 30 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, standing, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, and reaching for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards.
