Quality Auditor - 3rd shift

About the role

Polaris Inc. is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team. This role supports production by teaching operators how to use quality equipment and auditing various processes.

Responsibilities

• Support production by teaching operators how to correctly use gauges and other quality equipment.
• Audit various process characteristics per specification plans, including receiving inspection of components or raw materials, WIP, quarantined inventory, re-worked components or assemblies, and finished goods.
• Make necessary recommendations for process improvements.
• Perform sort of non-conforming materials as required.
• Verify manufacturing department materials and parts to ensure they meet written specifications within established tolerances.
• Work overtime or vary working hours as needed.
• Attend company-provided training.
• Use cross-training to assist in other quality positions as necessary.
• Prepare layout sheets, RMO's, shipping orders, and order supplies for QA Lab as necessary.
• Challenge non-conforming product using proper chain of command and hold tag procedures.
• Provide help with rework projects as the quality inspector for all completed rework.
• Maintain or input quality data/files as required.
• Communicate necessary issues, findings, etc. to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain quality inspection equipment as necessary.
• Participate in improving existing inspection procedures and actively participate in the PCI process.
• Work in a safe and healthy manner, strictly following all safety rules and regulations.
• Perform duties outside assigned area, as required.
• Maintain a neat and organized work area.

Requirements

• Technical diploma or equivalent training preferred.
• Familiarity with parts, tolerances, dimensions, problem areas, various inspection equipment, and quality terminology.
• One year experience with basic gauging equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
• Experience and strong working knowledge of the production area this position is assigned to support (i.e. seats, engines, metal fabrication, etc.).
• Flexibility to cover other shifts when needed.
• Working knowledge of PC software programs (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, database, email) including the ability to enter and retrieve data.
• Working knowledge of the AS400 system.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
• Responsible, enthusiastic, trustworthy, and able to work with minimum supervision.
• Previous inspection experience or related education preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Mobility & Stamina: Prolonged standing (8+ hour shifts), walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, and crouching.
• Lifting: Frequently lifting/maneuvering heavy parts, materials, or products, usually up to 40 lbs.
• Manual Dexterity: Strong hand-eye coordination for handling, touching, and inspecting small components or using instruments like calipers.
• Vision & Sensory: Superior close-up vision, depth perception, and color vision.
• Reaching & Accessing: Frequent reaching (overhead, lateral, forward) and sometimes climbing up on vehicles or ladders or working in confined spaces.
• Environmental Handling: Ability to work in environments requiring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, cut-resistant gloves, and steel-toed boots.

Skills and Knowledge

Pay

$22.81 - $26.93 per hour

Schedule

Flexible schedule to accommodate production needs.

Qualifications

New hires must have 1-year Continuous Service from Polaris Hire Date. There must be 6 Months Between Department Transfers or Promotions. No Active Corrective Actions are allowed, and there must be 2 or less Attendance Points. Must have received a 'Meets Expectation' in the most recent performance review, if applicable.
