About the role

The Quality Assurance Technician position plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and quality of Mennel's products, aligning with the company's mission and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, and the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act.
  • Maintain the department/facility in an audit-ready condition.
  • Accurately analyze routine and non-routine samples for both internal and external customers.
  • Promptly communicate quality, safety, and security concerns to co-workers and the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot testing procedures, maintaining calibration logs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including assigned sanitation duties.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for R&D project testing requests and assist with research projects.
  • Cover for the Quality Assurance Manager or Lead Quality Assurance Technician in their absence.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in cereal science, food science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, analytical instrument, microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and perform job duties while wearing a respirator.
  • Effective prioritization and organization skills.
  • High aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Understanding of material flow and sequence of operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, and Intranet, and other relevant computer software.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing and presenting.
  • Mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Good judgment and ability to adapt to changing work duties and events.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, reach, climb, and stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in various weather conditions.
