Quality Assurance Technician

About the role

You will program and operate 3D AOI/SPI systems, assist inspectors with review stations, import data, create programs, and maintain the AOI package library. You will collaborate with engineering and equipment manufacturers to improve the accuracy of AOI, SPI, and X-ray systems.

Responsibilities

• Program and operate AOI machines and X-ray systems.
• Perform first article inspections and provide prompt feedback per work order.
• Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) on machines.
• Meet production requirements, including reading and navigating Fusion documentation, passing the Component Identification quiz, operating in-line washers, and performing in-process inspections accurately.
• Work in a manner that meets or exceeds quality and production standards.
• Follow procedures defined in the QMS (Quality Management System) and help update them to match current processes.
• Complete preventive maintenance on machines as required.
• Act as a role model by adhering to and reinforcing Safety, ESD, ITAR, and QMS standards.
• Actively participate in Lean activities and provide feedback to ensure stability and sustainability.
• Use the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to track time and status of tasks.
• Maintain 5S standards and continually seek ways to improve and reduce waste.
• Become and retain IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications.

Requirements

• Ability to adapt to and understand OEM software, even without prior experience.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience operating automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment or related inspection experience.
• Experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) component identification, including accurate recognition of resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, and ICs.

Qualifications

• Previous IPC-A-610 certification (required).
• Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting and calibrating AOI equipment (preferred).

Pay

$24–$30 per hour.
