Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Technician ensures that the Quality Control and Food Safety programs are being maintained in the plant, and that the processing of products is consistent with established standards by performing the following duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Essential Job Functions
- Directly monitors process adherence to FSIS food safety regulatory requirements during slaughter, evisceration, packing and post-chill processing.
- Oversees and conducts daily implementation and verification of all HACCP activities.
- Covers inspection of criteria and procedures during slaughter, evisceration, packing and post-chill processing.
- Oversees and conducts and oversees process quality data verification collection through the process during slaughter, evisceration, packing.
- Conducts statistical data collection from sizing to finish product verification.
- Conducts processing data collection for company research department.
- Participates in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Participates in quality management teams within the organization.
- Under the supervision of the QA Manager, investigates customer complaints regarding quality and food safety.
- Reports any food safety related issues immediately to their direct supervisor.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
- Report any damages to company property.
- Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Preference for some post-secondary education, or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1 to 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing/production facility required; poultry facility preferred.
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
- Computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.
- Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to satisfy all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.
- Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally without assistance and 100 with assistance occasionally.
- Must be able to walk production floor and warehouse building.
- Conditions of production floor and warehouse may be cold, wet, loud and PPE is required.
- Must be able to stay on their feet for long periods of time.
