About the role

Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. Founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy, CPG’s mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

The Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for assigned testing activities across projects, production support, and enhancements. This technical role requires knowledge of end-user applications, databases, technical aspects, and testing methodologies. The role involves applying proven analytical and problem-solving skills to validate IT processes through detailed testing, maximizing the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.

Effective performance requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues for relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to the development of the Test Plan and Test Strategy for assigned projects, enhancements, and production support.
  • Develop detailed test scenarios based on Acceptance Criteria and/or feedback from Business Partners.
  • Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts, including test data, data validation, and automated scripts.
  • Support domains developed and maintained by CPG, including API, ETL, and Web.
  • Support transactional systems such as Oracle Financials, Alfresco, and Documaker.
  • Perform security testing as part of the QA testing cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate automated unit tests as part of the regression test bed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to complete root cause analysis and corrective action plans to ensure higher test coverage throughout development and UAT cycles.
  • Promote QA standards and best practices across functional teams.
  • Attend and contribute to Scrum events: daily standups, backlog refinement meetings, Sprint demo, and Sprint planning.
  • Maintain the test environment strategy to ensure environments are ‘test-ready’ for integration testing.
  • Participate and provide feedback in Lessons Learned meetings.
  • Collect quality metrics and perform trend analysis.
  • Actively identify and participate in training, education, and development activities to improve knowledge and performance.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Waterfall, and hybrid models.
  • Strong background in functional, integration, and regression testing for enterprise applications following Waterfall and/or Agile methodology.
  • Strong business communications, facilitation/elicitation, listening, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with project stakeholders, external vendors, and project team members.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels, outside vendors, and contractors.
  • Advanced proficiency in executing test strategies/plans/cases from business and functional requirements.
  • Intermediate-level SQL skills.
  • Understanding of ETL, API, Web technologies, and their components.
  • Working knowledge of software and tools including MS Office Products, ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence, Monday.com, TestRail, and BI reports.
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and scripting techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with programmatic test automation coding and automated testing framework design is a plus.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related fields is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of QA experience testing multi-tiered software applications.
  • Professional certification, such as CSTE or CSQA, is preferred.

Schedule

Hybrid work environment requiring in-office presence Tuesdays through Thursdays, with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

Pay

Salary Range: $98,000 - $127,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, where an award, if any, depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
