Quality Assurance Metrology Technician

Shift: 8 am - 4 pm

Responsibilities

  • Interpret specifications on drawings to ensure parts meet specifications, following the non-conforming parts and rejection processes through MRB.
  • Analyze measurement data and troubleshoot discrepancies to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Create, maintain, and update all electronic data sheets and database templates in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new measurement processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve quality-related issues and improve measurement techniques.
  • Support the training activities of junior technicians on measurement practices and equipment usage.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits to support compliance efforts.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Associate or technical degree in engineering, metrology, or related field required.
  • Metrology-related certifications preferred (e.g., ISO, ASQ).
  • At least two (2) years of experience in metrology or quality assurance.
  • At least two (2) years of work experience in QAM or a related optical/mechanical test environment with a heavy emphasis on mechanical testing, precision measurement, calibration, and data analysis preferred.
  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or protected individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs) and metrology software.
  • Strong math, problem-solving, and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Solid understanding of metrology principles and quality assurance processes.
  • Good manual dexterity and ability to work with small, delicate components.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills.
  • Strong technical background to understand technical concepts and drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer-supplied optical drawings in accordance with military specifications and ANSI standards.

Working Conditions

  • Cleanroom environment with inspection stations.
  • Constant mental and visual alertness needed.
  • Regular exposure to chemicals and solvents.
  • Exposure to high-intensity light while inspecting certain product lines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see clearly at a distance, especially when observing larger equipment or layout plans.
  • Capability to judge distances accurately, crucial for measuring and calibrating equipment.
  • Ability to perceive objects outside of direct line of sight (peripheral vision).
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of both hands while transporting materials is required.
  • Ability to use computer equipment is required.

  • Responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards relevant to the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
