About the role
Estherville Foods, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to join their quality department. The technician will perform physical and microbiological tests and analysis to ensure food safety and compliance with customer standards.
Responsibilities
- Follow Good Laboratory Practices and adhere to SOPs and regulations.
- Perform and document laboratory tests (Pathogen testing, petrifilm, solids, pH, etc.).
- Collect, review, and analyze data; identify and correct problems.
- Distribute laboratory reports and complete assigned tasks.
- Review, complete, and collaborate on required documentation and practices within the facility.
- Participate in the quality team for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote food safety and adhere to USDA and company regulations.
- Work weekend/holiday rotations in the laboratory as needed.
- Cross-train within the quality department.
Requirements
- Proven team player with problem-solving and decision-making skills using data.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to document and maintain accurate, legible records.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks with excellent results.
- Self-starter who works efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Laboratory experience (e.g., food, analytical, hospital, or veterinary).
- Experience in a Quality Control setting (preferred).
Physical Demands
- Frequently required to speak, read, and write in English.
- Frequently stand, sit, and handle materials.
- Use computers, hands, and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift 30-50 pounds.
- Work in office, plant floor, and laboratory environments.
A new state-of-the-art lab is under construction; the position will be based at the existing lab until completion.
