Quality Assurance Inspector / Trainer 3rd Shift

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled visual inspections of parts being produced on all injection molding machines.
  • Complete routine functional and destructive testing of safety and high performance related plastic components, such as fuel tanks, chainsaw handles, and blower fans.
  • Identify potential quality concerns and prioritize communication to process technicians and supervision for immediate response and corrective actions.
  • Document all quality inspections within provided spreadsheets and quality management software.
  • Be proficient in running production on all machine operator assignments within the molding department.
  • Assist with new employee guidance and training when machine operators are hired.
  • Focus on continued improvement efforts, including cross-functional training, ongoing machine operator development, and consistently accurate communication with all indirect support staff.
  • Work overtime as needed, to cover other shifts during PTO/vacation/etc. events.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of manufacturing related experience is required.
  • Prior experience in Quality Assurance field is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay focused while completing assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Experience using a PC, tablet, or similar device to document inspections and complete clerical tasks.
  • Experience using small hand tools such as T-handle hex wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers.
  • Band saw experience for cutting plastic parts during inspection is preferred; candidates without prior experience must be able to learn this task quickly and become proficient.
  • Must be a quick learner. Product-specific training will be provided, and the candidate is expected to learn inspection methods and equipment quickly so they can work independently as soon as possible.
  • Self-motivated, with strong energy, optimism, and communication skills to support the department’s success.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift boxes or components weighing 50 pounds or less intermittently.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, twist, lift, use arms and hands consistently throughout a 9-hour shift.

Work Environment

  • Monday through Friday.
  • Standard shift is 8 hrs.
  • Overtime required to provide coverage to other shifts as needed.
  • Manufacturing facility with concrete floors.
  • Stairs are used to access several elevated office areas.
  • Extensive machinery throughout the department.
  • Safety standards must be adhered to.

Education

  • A High School diploma or equivalent secondary school completion is preferred.
