Quality Assurance Engineer (Procurement)

About the Role

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) provides Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineering services to support H2C activities, including Procurement Quality Assurance functions across multiple business phases. This role involves oversight both internally and externally with vendors, and collaboration as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Quality to develop solutions and strategies for assigned work scopes.

Responsibilities

• Apply Quality Engineering theories, methods, and research techniques to develop, establish, and maintain quality assurance policies, procedures, and methods.
• Provide Supplier Oversight, including:
  • Quality Assurance Requirements development
  • Supplier Evaluation and Selection
  • Design, Procurement, Fabrication, Testing, and Receipt Inspection
• Work independently to provide reasonable assurance on assigned work scopes.
• Participate or lead project-wide system audits as directed by quality management.
• Plan and execute surveillances on various requirement areas, both internally and at the vendor level.
• Provide quality assurance support to ensure items, parts, and components are acquired and installed in accordance with governing documents.
• Establish quality assurance requirements for assigned work scopes.
• Review and approve supplier quality assurance programs.
• Develop, review, and approve statements of work, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Establish, plan, and implement quality assurance oversight plans, including witness points, hold points, and oversights throughout multiple project phases.
• Develop receipt inspection plans.
• Provide direct, on-site oversight of suppliers during multiple project phases, either on-site or at vendor facilities.
• Oversee projects and activities from conceptualization through design, procurement, fabrication, testing, and delivery/receipt.
• Travel up to 20%, depending on the project phase and work assignment.
• On-site oversight may be required as applicable.

Requirements

Qualifications vary by grade level:

• Grade 16: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science, or related field and 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Grade 17: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science, or related field and 4 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Scope of responsibility is larger, and performance expectations are increased.
• Grade 18: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science, or related field and 6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and performance expectations are greatly increased.

Qualifications

• Previous Quality Assurance Experience in the nuclear industry.
• Experience in oversight of vendors, including shop fabrication.
• Current or previous qualification as a NQA-1 Lead Assessor/Auditor.
• Current or previous qualification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1-2008/2009A or equivalent edition.

Pay

Hiring range: $90,150 – $137,538, determined by job scope, candidate qualifications, internal comparators, and external labor market. Prior salary history will not be considered.
