Quality Assurance Engineer, Manufacturing

About the role

Xometry is seeking Quality Engineers to join our dynamic team. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance supplier quality culture through process improvement projects
  • Lead or participate in projects to refine quality programs and procedures
  • Utilize quality tools like lean and sigma to resolve non-conformance issues and manage customer return material authorizations (RMA)
  • Administer supplier-related non-conformance reports (NCR), service correction and action reports (SCAR), and corrective action reports (CAR) in a timely manner
  • Manage supplier-related non-conformance trends to assess the effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Solve troubled orders and improve supplier quality
  • Apply engineering knowledge to ensure quality hardware meets customer requirements
  • Analyze and communicate the impact of manufactured part rejections to suppliers
  • Oversee internal production from a quality perspective
  • Review and publish quality metrics
  • Support QA and RMA meetings (live reviews)
  • Participate in and provide input on initiatives to simplify and automate complex processes
  • Interface with various departments to ensure manufacturing processes meet customer quality and satisfaction standards
  • Communicate with suppliers, internal/external customers, and leadership to drive quality improvements
  • Aid Quality Control Lab as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a Technical related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, quality role, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier-facing role or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of and/or education, skills, and experience associated with manufacturing processes, engineering drawing requirements
  • Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Able to multitask, meet deadlines, and support all supplier quality field activities
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA and DFM/DFQ
  • Strong manufacturing knowledge
  • Able to read and interpret CAD models & drawings
  • Strong time management/project management capabilities
  • Understanding of Six Sigma methodologies
  • Knowledge of process certification/process robustness
  • Superior analytic and articulation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • ASQ Certification
  • Educated in statistics / BIG Data
  • Familiar with Zendesk, Asana, SolidWorks, Tableau
