About the role

Seemann Composites, LLC is a world leader in composites manufacturing, supporting the United States Navy’s industrial base with specialized products for submarine fleets and amphibious programs. The Quality Assurance Engineer II position supports manufacturing operations through quality planning, internal auditing, supplier qualification, and government property management oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements.
  • Support manufacturing operations through quality planning, internal auditing, supplier qualification, government property management oversight, and measurement system control.
  • Monitor quality metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead Internal audits and support third party Quality Management System audits and Source Inspections.
  • Evaluate quality control processes and protocols recommending new or improved processes as necessary.
  • Collaborate with various functions to assure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Lead root cause, corrective and preventive action investigations and follow up as required.
  • Create work instructions, procedures or technical writing.
  • Assist with external audits, customer audits, and certification audits.
  • Develop and review quality procedures, work instructions, forms, and records.
  • Assist with first article inspections.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Requirements

  • Assigned several quality responsibilities.
  • Bachelor of Science in Composites, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Chemical, Aerospace, or other related engineering degree, such as Naval Architecture.
  • A combination of extensive work experience (3-6 Years) plus other unrelated education.
  • Good Oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, customer specifications and material requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in Quality Engineering and Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO9001 quality management systems.
  • Experience with First Article Inspections.
  • Creation of work instructions, procedures or technical writing.
  • Hands on fabrication experience.
  • Experience with composite materials and fabrication of composite structures.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Good Oral and written communication skills.

Essential Physical Requirement

  • Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms.
  • Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty.
  • The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
  • Ability to engage in productive collaborative communication with co-workers.
