About the Role
Responsible for inspecting the product to identify quality issues and assisting with product repacking as needed. This role involves providing technical, customer relations, and personnel management support for major programs and projects within a high-volume warehouse operation.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of assigned coolers to check product quality and identify any issues.
- Check product dates for proper rotation and remove any distressed product.
- Determine which products need reworking and which should be discarded.
- Rework all distressed or damaged products.
- Communicate quality issues to buyers, management, and associates.
- Report all lost products or transfers.
- Ensure all inventory is properly blocked and labeled.
- Assist in inventory counts.
- Instruct handlers on the proper method of loading trucks to prevent damage during transport.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience (knowledge of the produce industry preferred).
- Ability to operate warehouse power equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- General understanding of shipping procedures in a high-volume warehouse operation.
- Solid understanding of produce varieties handled in a wholesale operation.
- Ability to manually inspect produce efficiently for periods of up to or exceeding eight (8) hours.
- Frequent lifting of products up to 50 lbs. during the shift; infrequent lifting up to 80 lbs.
- Some stooping and bending required; ability to move freely around the work area.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
Decision Making Authority
- Fully Independent: Identifying quality issues.
- With Review/Approval: All work is regularly reviewed by a supervisor and manager.
